Welcome to our Governors Information page.
Our Governors would like to introduce themselves to you:
Mrs Barbara Berks - Chair of the Governing Body and SEN Governor
I am a retired primary headteacher who has worked in Taunton area schools for most of my teaching life and still undertake some freelance work in the local education world. I am passionate about helping children realise how much they can achieve, supporting them to do the best they can and to love learning so that they make the most of all they are offered. I am married and have 2 grown up children of my own and one 4-year old granddaughter who keeps us all amused! I am proud to be a Governor at Lyngford Park School, which has so much to offer its pupils thanks to the great school team who work so hard to really inspire the children here.
Miss Clare Ousley - Chair of the Business Committee & Safeguarding Governor
I have been a parent Governor for nearly 3 years and have found the role both rewarding and interesting. I work in a secondary school within Taunton in the finance office and believe this helps me fulfil my governor role. I made the decision to become a governor firstly as a parent, and secondly due to my career of having finance knowledge within a school. Being a Governor has given me a very in depth experience of how a thriving school is run, this is important to me due to having a child in the school and witnessing what a fantastic education the pupils get.
Mrs Faye Forsyth - Chair of the Welfare & Education Committee
I am a parent with children in both key stages of the school, as well as the pre-school. I live and work locally and went to Lyngford Park School myself as a child. This gives me a good all-round perspective and interest in the school being the best it can be, and helps support my role of Parent Governor, where I try to give fair parent feedback and support as well as being able to be a critical friend to the school. Being a Governor is important to me as I truly care about the education children receive and being passionate about Lyngford Park, I take great pride in its achievements to date. I enjoy now being able to offer support through the role of Governor and have recently taken on the role of Chair of the Welfare & Education Committee which meets termly before the main Governor Meeting is held.
Mrs Amanda Gunter - Parent Governor
I am a partner in a local firm of accountants as well as mum to two children at the school. I joined the board of Governors in 2016 after having thought about taking on the role for a number of years. One of my reasons for joining the board was that I would like to try to have a positive impact on the running of the school and therefore a positive impact on the education and general wellbeing of the children. Taking on the role has been eye opening and it has helped me to see why things have been/are being done which I would not have understood before. I've often questioned what impact Governors can have on the running of the school when we aren't there day-to-day but I believe the general oversight that the Governors have will help to ensure that the school continues to develop and thrive and I hope my financial and business background will help me to support the school in delivering it's goals.
Miss Rachael Wasiewicz - Teacher Governor
I joined Lyngford Park School as a student teacher over 7 years ago and was lucky to get my first teaching post here. Over the years I have had various roles within the school and I am now looking forward to taking on this new challenge of being a School Governor and using my knowledge of the school, children and families as well as my experience of teaching to help move the school forward.
Mrs Angela Bolitho - Co-Opted Governor
I work locally as a member of police staff with other agencies to support the area and co-ordinate the North Taunton One Team. I have previously worked as a primary school Head teacher in Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare. I have a 21-year old son who is just finishing university and we live together with our two dogs! I am so proud to be a Governor as such a wonderful school and I really want to support Mrs Loader and the staff in my role as a Governor.
Mrs Carolyn Furniss - Teacher Governor
I joined Lyngford Park in January 2016 after moving from Buckinghamshire to Taunton with my husband and our two dogs, leaving behind two grown up daughters. I have always been a governor in all my previous schools. It was a natural progression to join the Governing Body at Lyngford Park when the opportunity arose. I am passionate about providing the best for all the children in our school. My role in the Foundation Unit gives me the chance to build a close relationship with parents and children when they first start school, which I hope will continue throughout their school life. I believe my previous experience as a governor will enable me to take an active role in the governing body, ensuring the school continues to thrive.
Julie Sabey - Co-Opted Governor
I work as an Area Community Manager for Taunton Deane Borough Council, heading up the North Taunton Housing Team and therefore have a real interest in the community in which I work. I have been in this role for just over 18 months. My career has always been in housing working in the East and West of England. When asked to take up the role as School Governor, I immediately knew that this would complement the work that my team delivers in the community as the primary school is at the very heart of it.
I have found the school to be a real vibrant place to be in and the children seem very enthusiastic about their learning environment. This is a real challenge for me as I have never been a school governor before, and I do not have an educational background. I will commit to support our young people in North Taunton to ensure that they get the opportunities that they deserve.
